Mortgage freeze
The mortgage freeze plan can help you if you have an adjustable loan that is increasing your payments beyond what you can afford. The Bush Paulson adjustable mortgage freeze applies if your credit score is too low for you to get another loan and you must have very little equity but not negative equity.
So if your FICO is below 680, and you owe, say, $200,000 and your house is worth $200,000, you won't qualify because you don't have equity. You must have a bit of equity for the freeze.

The easiest thing to get is a modification of your loan that simply adds the past due balance to the balance of the loan. The hardest loan modification is a lowering of the interest rate. But they can be done. It is essential that you present your case properly and that you get the attention of the lender.
That is the hardest thing, to get the lender's attention. They are buried in so many files and so many people asking for help that they only pay attention to those people who present the paperwork properly, use good people skills and are very persistent.
